How does your coaching program work? This is a one-on-one screenwriter coaching program. During this time, you'll either be writing a new screenplay or teleplay. We’ll have a weekly one-on-one, 30 minute Zoom call, where I check in with you, and help you build your individualized writing plan. I also offer email support M-F, for additional accountability to you in the writing process.
-
How much time do I need? This should be your main focus during this time period. You’ll need to be able to carve out approximately two hours per day, or ten hours per week for writing. I’ve worked with writers who work full time, have a family, and are in school. We can figure out a way to schedule your writing time, but this is what it will take.
-
What screenwriting software do you recommend?I recommend Final Draft. Other screenwriting software that you can use include Fade-in, Celtix, Writer Duet, or fountain.io.
-
What are the requirements? The basic requirements are that you have some sort of past experience in screenwriting or related field, are 21 years or older, live in the U.S., and have an idea for a script that you want to write. You will also need access to high speed internet for our Zoom consultations. As part of the application process, you will need to submit a short writing sample in script format.
-
Should I register my screenplay?I recomend registering your completed screenplay with the wgaw. https://www.wgawregistry.org
-
What books do you recommend on screenwriting? The first book I recommend is Save the Cat, by Blake Snyder. It will give you a basic understanding of story structure, and a great system for building your outline.
-
What is your attendance policy? Most of my clients are working writers, directors, and actors, so sometimes unexpected scheduling conflicts come up. If you need to reschedule one of our coaching sessions, please let me know as early as possible. As long as you let me know at least 24 hours in advance, I'm always happy to reschedule our session for a different time that same week. If you miss a session with less than 24 hour notice, or do not reschedule your session, that count as one of your used sessions.
-
Do coaching sessions expire?Yes. All 12 coaching sessions must be used within 90 days. This is designed to hold you accountable to your writing goals, and finishing your script.
-
What is your refund policy?Coaching packages are non-refundable, and non-transferable. When you purchase a coaching package, you are making a commitment to yourself to finish your script.
